Transformers Revenge of the Fallen

"Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" - Starring Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, John Turturro, the voice talents of Peter Cullen and Hugo Weaving and the visual effects gurus at Industrial Light and Magic among others, with Ramon Rodriguez, Kevin Dunn, Julie White, Isabel Lucas, John Benjamin Hickey and Rainn Wilson, written by Ehren Kruger, Roberto Orci, and Alex Kurtzman, directed by Michael Bay. Alright so the big blockbuster of the summer; what "Dark Knight" was to 2008, "Transformers II" was supposed to be to 2009. Well, hold your horses on that one. While the graphics are stunning and the explosions huge, the story lacked quite a bit and the acting had a lot of room to grow. I really wanted to like this film but alas the only character you could relate to throughout was a giant truck cab robot named Optimus. Shia LaBeouf may be the new "geeky" hero and Megan Fox the new "it" girl of Hollywood but neither showed much more than running, screaming and terror I'm pulling for them but I'm not holding my breath. The best acting was done by Dunn and White (LaBeouf's parents) and Turturro who can act slightly crazy with the best of them. The graphics and action scenes are worth seeing on the big screen, I guess, but you have to give us more of a storyline and characters we can care about or the 3rd installment may not rack in as much cash as this one. In my opinion there has to be more to a movie than the graphics, especially in the day of Blue Ray players and home theaters that offer comfy couches instead of sticky floors and goofy teenagers, to pry us away from our 4th of July BBQ's. 3.75/5 Remotes
