...and Mayor Darwin Hindman dismounted his trusty steed, er bike, from off the MKT trail and issued this proclamation to all the Columbians of the land.
- Respect thy institutions of higher learning for they are your revenue makers you shall have no other businesses above thee, respect for thine will bring you great wealth, fame and importance among nations.
- Thou shall not make among you another mall, one that shall have more than one floor. One level of extreme commerce shall suffice you through all of your mercantile endeavors.
- Thou shall keep holy the Saturday "Sabbath" on home game days and remember your sacrifice of Bud Light on the holy altar of the campus grounds. Doing so honors your alumni brethren who have gone before you.
- Thou shall not bear right or left while driving without first refusing to signal the turn to your neighbor.
- Honor your local merchants with purchases from Shakespeare's, the Heidelberg, and numerous farmers' markets.
- Thou shall not murder the independent spirit of the community and shall respect its festivals, rituals and places of worship.
- Thou shall not craft nor beholden any graven image of "hawk" like figures representing westerly states surrounding thee.
- Honor your park system and "bike, walk, and wheel" to work at least one week per year.
- Honor your thespians, actors and players for they are wise among your people.
- Thou shall be wary of visitors throughout the year for often they will attempt to weaken your resolve and destroy thine sense of community. Welcome them for short periods but know like many others they will leave your confines within due time. Remain strong within your borders for thine are an honorable people.

"Bike, Walk, and Wheel" reminded me of probably my favorite jingle of all time (which really says a lot because I love making fun of jingles, as so many of them sound the same):

You might try riding your bike
Or just using your feet!

Do they still play that one? Seriously, best jingle ever.
They still show it from time to time but I think with the hard economic times the GetAbout Columbia people have cut down on their advertising budget.
That's kind of sad. I'd hope, though, that more people are biking, walking, and wheeling because of the economic downturn, too.
