Alright so day two of the sickness is not so much fun, but what is slightly fun about it is those old Netflix DVD's that have been sitting on the shelf have gotten sent off and back to the distribution site closest to the house. Here's a quick review of the "latest" Netflix movies shipped off courtesy of the United States Postal Service and one thanks to the folks at Wii.
"Invasion" - A "silly" little horror flick that made its way on to the queue for because of my affinity for Nicole Kidman, but to be honest if she keeps doing films like this her Oscar and nominations won't be enough for me to check out her latest films. Stupid plot, bad acting and an even worse premise...I'm all for suspension of reality but it takes waaay to much for this one. 1/5 remotes
"Elizabeth: The Golden Age" - So it's a period piece with Cate Blanchette, Geoffery Rush, and Clive Owen about (duh) Elizabeth. While the story follows historical events of the "Protestant Wind", the depiction of the event tried to slide a little bit too much "Hollywood" love story into the times. The acting strong enough, the story true enough, and the cinematography and costumes bright, vibrant and good "eye candy", it lacked a little bit of pizzazz to put it over the top. 3/5 remotes
"How to Train Your Dragon" - This animated film was put on the queue when it was nominated for the Best Animated Feature Oscar, it didn't get here in time for the broadcast but I can definitely see why it was placed in the pool. The story follows the outcast to redemption story that is quite popular in the animated film genre, but with great graphics and lovable characters, including a dragon. However, I did miss one thing...music. Sure the score and soundtrack were great and poignant and eased well into the overall film but it had some gaps that needed to be filled. 4/5 Remotes
