Dido's voice has been described as "mellow","ethereal", and "ostensibly sad", but cookie cutter or a "traditional" pop, punk or metal artist she has proven she is not. With her latest offering "Safe Trip Home", Dido opens up and branches out from her sometimes melancholy and emotional sound, and allows joy to flow from here cherubic voice. Yet with her joy she still finds herself lugubrious within her tunes. "Safe Trip Home" is an emotional, musical, journey that takes the listener through joy ("it comes and it goes","look no further","let's do the things we normally do"), sorrow ("grafton street","quiet times") and uncertainty. ("don't believe in love","the day before the day") Dido's evolution of sound continues with depth, meaning, and a certain amount of innocence that, although her life's maturity allows her claim to much more corruption, continues on through her music and her individualistic sound. "Safe Trip Home" is an emotional identification of an artist who is not intimidated by mainstream success but instead holds true to her musical roots and integrity. Dido provides her fans and her critics one more chapter to her intense yet peaceful growing attaché of heartfelt music. 4/5 Remotes
